I was hired by Red Hat to put together a crew of filmmakers/video producers to travel to Atlanta and film a short profile on the partnership between Cisco and Red Hat. We filmed for 1 entire day and left – with those constraints it was hard to get the content we needed in that short timeframe but we managed to make the best of it. We were blessed to have such a beautiful day and our subjects were absolutely the coolest to work with. That made it easy for us.

This was a project I was hired to direct/shoot/edit for Red Hat, one of my biggest clients, which took me to 5 different cities with a “super-crew” that I assembled of cinematographers/producers/story-editors who I work with when given the opportunity, like this one. Fortunately, we are all very close and had a ball traveling and producing these stories by filming interviews with Red Hat’s strongest partners. This project took us to Atlanta, NY, Toronto, NJ, and back home – fortunately we never missed a beat or made a technical mistake. After the 9 hour drives and one way flights we all came home with great footage and worked for a solid week editing everything down. It was a fast turn-around for a project but we knew it when we signed up.

a video profile I directed for the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School on Jason Kilar, the CEO of Hulu. I was sent to LA to meet Jason, interview him at Hulu’s corporate headquarters and sit in/film a meeting he had with new hires. Jason was an incredibly humble and charismatic person, giving us access to his inner circle and operations at Hulu. The building was also split with E! Hollywood Studios where they film Chelsea Lately – so on our way out of the shoot, we saw Chelsea Handler and Chewy leaving from their filming session. A few members of my crew were star struck, the especially the girl who interviewed Jason!

after the video was shown to Jason, I was very glad to see his comments sent to UNC’s PR Director, Heather.

a short documentary profile I produced for the Kenan-Flagler Business School highlighting Brazilian stock car racer and businessman, Thiago Penido. He explains what it means to be a good leader and how Kenan-Flagler helped shape him into being the leader that he is today. In his professional career, Thiago is strategic planning director for Grupo Serveng, a family-owned enterprise – he is also an incredibly well-known stock car racer in Brazil.

I had the opportunity to travel to Brazil for a week and meet Thiago to document his life. This video is my interpretation of the person he is, and in my opinion, he is one of the most kind and welcoming people I’ve ever had the chance to meet.

As a filmmaker, your greatest reward is that your subject is happy with the way you portrayed him, as filmmaking is a subjective art form. When I shared the video with Thiago for the first time, this is what he had to say after watching it. So far in my career, it is the best reaction I’ve ever gotten, and really made me proud to read this.

In the Summer 2012, I was sent to Mumbai, India (which became my favorite place to shoot visuals) to direct/shoot/edit an assignment of a prominent financial figure in the Indian Financial system, Ajit Dayal. He was an incredibly genuine and approachable person, whose beliefs on finance were very honest with a high value for integrity. I learned a lot from Ajit – being a creative, I don’t usually look into finance or understand the complexities of it. He explained to me his thoughts on Wall St. and it’s greedy nucleus that no one ever sees. He also explained the biggest problem with Wall St. and the Occupy movement is people know that something is wrong, they just don’t know how to articulate it because it’s so complex and you must be on the inside to really know what’s happening. That is why it’s so hard for American citizens to fight it; because they know what they are fighting for, but they have no clue how to fight it. These were the moments we filmed that I didn’t decide to share, because the purpose of this video was to show Ajit and his success as a Kenan-Flagler alumni – in which he did share how formative getting his MBA there was for him.

All said and done, Mumbai has been my favorite place to film – it’s a visual paradise.

The purpose of this video is to highlight Manish’s goal of developing and implementing a business program that merges the Kenan-Flagler Business School and the School of Public Health. He is also working very closely with GlaxoSmithKline this summer under Jack Bailey who heavily recruits talent from the UNC Business School.
